Emma and John Knightley

I wanted to comment on something we were talking about in class which was the generative question about why Emma doesn't get along with John Knightley. I just thought it was because the narrator both says that both characters are both clever so theres a simliarity between the two which Emma probably doesn't see but also they both take advantage of being the superior person. (John with Isabella and Emma with Harriet). Emma probably doesn't realize this but she dislikes qualities that John possesses, but its odd because she is so similar to John but is only able to see his negatives.
